Sunday musing

What's isolation taught you?

I have an even deeper appreciation for the humans I live with, my bed is my happy place and YouTube has heaps of hallmark murder mystery shows 💜

I have also learned that my lifestyle needs some tweaking..... Online shopping 😜

So I've got some ideas brewing 🤗

Starting with growing some veggies & herbs, I'm thinking a vertical garden to save space.

Next on my list is clearing space for more bulk food storage (no not toilet paper 😂) I used to bulk buy to save money but got lazy. Then I'm going to invest in a second slow cooker & steamer, to take away all the excuses to order take away.

Ive also started a food journal, as I've had the time to realise just how distructive my food choices have been.
I used this template, I found it on Pinterest.

I've been suffering from terrible migraines, upset tummy and feeling just blur! Thanks to this little template I've been able to pin point the causes and slowly change my eating.

Also the thought of saving money to spend on family holidays definitely sweetens the deal and no calories 😂

I've also had time to read, not just for my studies but also for pleasure 💜

So what about you? Any new projects?

And of course I've been busy working in my little office, Em's Apothecary has been super busy and I've been working hard on perfecting my new plant based skincare.

Have you tried any new chemical free products, share your experience 🤗

Right I'm off, I have a cup of tea and book calling my name.

Quarantine confession

Ok time to fess up.....

To the outside world I made quarantine seem like a piece of cake......

Well it was, cause I ate cake, pizza, pasta, Chinese..... Anything on uber 😂

And now it's showing on the outside!

When your loose happy pants start looking like tights it's time to reassess.

Not to mention how sick my shitty nutrition has made me feel, migraines for days 😭

So why not turn this negative into a positive 🤗

My goal is to be a holistic lifestyle coach, so I'm gonna be my first client 😅

So it's time to take care of myself, practice what I preach.

I'm starting with self love meditation, yoga and eating more vegetables. I've been studying Ayurveda, at first it was just for my personal information but I'm now thinking I want to learn more 🤗

Self care is the number one priority of Ayurveda 💜

I'm not to sure about eating indian food because I'm a wussy when it comes to spicy food 😂 but I'm willing to give it a go.

Have you tried Ayurveda? Tell me about your experience, I'd love to hear it 🤗

Up skiling

So it's lockdown......

Staying home, staying safe!

So apart from excessive Uber orders and online shopping, I've been using this time to add to my skills 🤗

So if you follow me on https://www.facebook.com/emsapothecary/ or my personal page https://www.facebook.com/emma.peace.52
You'd know I've been practising meditation.

My personal journey has been enlightening, mind blowing infact! I have been able to discover parts of me that I'd hidden, forgotten about, things that I was ashamed of, things that I felt guilty for.... the list goes on! Meditation helped me to not only bring these things to the surface but to bring them to a place of love where I could accept and embrace these 'negatives' turn them into 'positives'.

The feeling of weight lifting from my shoulders is the best way to describe how meditation has made me feel.

So long story....

I am now studying to become a teacher of meditation 🤗

I am also adding to my counseling skills with a holistic counseling course annnnd I'm learning Ayurveda 💜

What can I say I love to learn.

So how's your lock down been?
Have you started something new or finishing something old?

On a side note *
If you have struggled, if you have sat on the couch with your fur baby, binged on Netflix or eaten donuts all day..... Don't feel bad, you got through 🤗
Don't struggle against it, go with the flow.... You do you 💜

Sunday vibes

Sunday's are for relaxing annnd COFFEE 🤗

I love Sundays, for me they are my recharge and reset day.

How do you spend your Sundays?

I love lists so I make a list and at the very top is Self-care, this time is spent doing things that make ME happy, no kids, no husband, just ME 😊

What makes you happy?

I love a long bath using lots of Yumi healing bath salts, music and candles.
I also love shopping 💜
Shopping online has become the norm (thanks to corona) and I'm ok with that, means I don't have to miss out and still keep my family safe 🤗

Did you know I finally put a website together that works 😂
Check it out www.emsapothecary.weebly.com
You can order online through the links to my Facebook shop.

I also use Sundays to prepare myself for Monday, another list 😂
I think lists make the transition from weekend to weekday smoother, but the trick is to make your list fun, all work and no play makes for a cranky you!

I'm also very flexible (these days) if something doesn't get done, the world is not going to end!

If you find lists, overwhelming and stressful don't do them 🤗

What helps you get things done?

Music, coffee, essential oils, candles, meditation, incense and crystals.
Happy Sunday lovelies 💜

Leave a comment on what you'd like to see in my next blog 😊

So what's an Aromatherapist anyway?

Aromatherapists use Essential Oils (EO) along with a variety of techniques to aid in a clients mental and physical health and overall well-being.

Currently at Em's Apothecary, Em creates topical therapeutically dosed EO blends for both mental and physical well-being.

The simple science behind how EO work:

Here at Em's Apothecary we believe in topical use of EO, we also recommend a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil, the carrier oil helps to evenly apply the EO while protecting the skin.

Essential Oils CAN burn the skin, create skin sensitivities and can exacerbate health concerns if not used correctly.

Em's Apothecary also believe in using EO in a diffuser like the ones pictured above.

Natural, plant based healing can be easy.

Why Essential oils are so gosh darn impressive:

EO are very unique in the way they pass through the skin and cell membrane.
EO are well known for crossing the blood-brain barrier.
EO have the ability to circulate the whole body with in 20 minutes.
EO affect our mental status simply upon inhalation.
One EO can be used for multiple functions.
Making Essential Oils more cost efficient.

I (Em) love using EO in my bath salts, fav blend being geranium and frankincense mixed into pink Himalayan salt and Epsom salt.

My (Em) current fav house blend is Happy Place, it's a great mood enhancing blend. But I must admit I love creating new blends, especially when I get to tailor them to suit a specific health need or goal.

Volcanic bead diffuser bracelets are the best :)

Hello Lovlies

Well, we did it!

We are on Blogger......

Here you will find more in-depth information about all things Em's Apothecary.

https://www.facebook.com/emsapothecary/

A little about this one women show:

Em's Apothecary started about a year ago, with some eBay amber roller bottles, Kmart white stickers & my chicken scratch handwriting to create labels.

I still use this kind of labeling for my own oil blends, new oils in the making etc, but thanks to Vistaprint I have some pretty labels for my bottles now.

Originally it was all about following my passion to start living a chemical free life, which with further study grew into a holistic lifestyle, an approach to life that looks at the whole picture.

I was posting on my personal Facebook page, but felt I needed more room so I created Em's Apothecary Facebook page, interest was growing, family at first followed closely by friends.

Word got out, Em's Apothecary's following grew, and I now have 7 house blends and offer a service of making personalised blends (custom blend).

To think my humble beginnings of dabbling with a box of essential oils that my mum in-law gave me has lead to my becoming a business owner! I tried the box of oils out of frustration, I was heavily relying on headache tablets and many cups of coffee to keep me going throughout the day. I knew it wasn't good for me but I didn't know what else to do, my new born was up all night with colic and I still had the rest of the family to look after during the day. Peppermint oil was the least intimidating in the box, so I tried that for my headache, the relief was fast! This is a miracle I thought, so I tried lavender in my bath, it was heaven. Next in the kitchen lemon oil, followed by using the orange oil in the vacuum cleaner bag. I was hooked, I had to learn more.

With all good lessons, comes mistakes! I made many, from signing up to pyramid schemes to putting oil in places you should NEVER put oil hehe. But my passion never stopped, I wanted to learn more,  the idea of helping people became a 'thing' I wanted to peruse, Em's Apothecary will help me to help others.

Let the adventure begin
